About Me As An English Student

Assalamu'alaikum wr.wb., Hello Everyone!

My name is Dinda Ayu Hikmah Pertiwi, I'm 19 years old, and I'm a student of English Education Department at Indraprasta PGRI University. Now I'm in 4th semester, and I would like to tell you about my profile as English student. It includes my activities as English student, the reason why I take English major at Unindra, and my goals after I graduate from Unindra.

- My Activities As English Student
My activities as an English student, of course like my classmates in college, I take part in the internal activities of learning  in class every Monday until Friday, and it leads by the lecturer. In addition, I like to participate in external activities, such as in community, English seminar, English course, both in the campus or off campus. I take them to expand my knowledge and experience. The lectures I encountered as an English student is not only focused on the basic language skills as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, but I also learn about linguistic lecture and others. Then, since I'm in the education department, I also learn the lectures that focus on education such as educational profession, educational introduction, and so on. In which to expand my insight of education and to make sure that I know what I have to do if I become a teacher one day in the future.

Before the pandemic hits my country, Indonesia, when I was in freshman year, my activities as an English student is that I always attended classes face-to-face, with my lecturers and my classmates, we often gathered to do group work together in front of the class or in the cafe. Suddenly everthing has changed since I was in sophomore year when the corona virus attack Indonesia, and many Indonesians has infected by covid-19, then by government regulations we should isolate ourselves at home and study or work from home.

During the pandemic, the activities I do as an English student from this semester until third and fourth semester, I do learn commonly referred to as "online learning", and the applications we use are the LMS (Learning Management System), WhatsApp Group, Google Classroom, etc. However, I, lecturers, and my classmates can't meet face-to-face, but we can meet and study virtually via Zoom, Google Meet, etc. When online learning class is about to begin, I usually wake up before the class starts, clean myself up first, and prepare the laptop or book that I use to take notes in lecture materials. Before class starts, I have to fill in for attendance first and go to the core material in each course. When the course was over, I reviewed the materials and put my goods back together.

- Why I Take English Major At Unindra
The reason why I take English major at Unindra is that because I like and interested in English since I was in elementary school. Furthermore, Unindra has good accreditation and the tuition fee to study at Unindra is cheaper than the other universities.

When I was in elementary school, I liked to take English lessons and practice speaking English with my course friends, and with the foreigners who were invited in my course place. It made me even more interested in English until I graduated in senior high school. In addition, I have a desire to be a career woman or a teacher who fluent in English, and I also want to be a crew in one of the television stations in Indonesia. That's the reason why I chose English education as my major at Unindra.

- My Goals After I Graduate From Unindra
My goals after I graduate from Unindra is that I would like to apply for job as an employee at one of private companies in Indonesia, I would like to placed myself into a woman who works in an office because I want to know more about work world and to study for myself too. In addition, if I get the opportunity, I would like to continue my study in postgraduate degree, in which it may be same or different major from my current major.

Thank you so much for your attention, and wassalamu'alaikum wr.wb.
